“I heard the bells on Christmas day; their old familiar carols play.”
American poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, wrote those words on Christmas Day, 1863. It was written during a time of personal hardship yet Longfellow boldly proclaimed at the end of his carol, “God is not dead, nor does He sleep!” The hope of Christmas, “God is with us – He is near – He is not dead” is just as real today as it was in 1863. During our “Christmas Carols” series we’ll renew our hope as we remember God keeps His promises, helps dreams be realized and gives us a renewed faith each and every day! How could we help but sing?
